Ourea cup exalts the texture and beauty of the raw clay, reminiscent of mountain landscapes and natural terrain. As you know, the brand Planina is a word for Mountain in the Croatian language so I deeply enjoyed creating them.
The name Ourea is given because in Greek mythology Ourea are the spirits of the mountains.
Cup celebrate the traditional Japanese technique of hollowing and carving clay, Kurinuki. Each of these ceramic pieces is truly unique and only one available. The time taken to slowly carve each one celebrates the texture of the raw materials in contrast to “perfect” mass-produced ceramics.
Details: The cup and the saucer are both made with a red-brown clay and have a Planina sign at the bottom. Glaze is applied on the inside and roughly on the outside of the cup. Hand-washing is recommended but you can also pop it in the dishwasher. The cup and saucer are food safe and lead free.
