How I prepare my ceremonial cacao with Planina cacao blend

In my studio mornings, before the work begins and before the day fully takes shape, I often make myself a cup of cacao.

It’s a small ritual, but it has a way of softening everything, the mind, the pace, the space around me.

I use my Planina cacao blend, which already holds a mix of warming spices. It feels complete on its own, so I usually keep everything very simple and let the cacao speak for itself.

How I prepare it

I start by heating about 2 dl of water or plant-based milk. I usually do half water and half oat milk, it creates a nice balance between lightness and creaminess.

I keep it warm and comforting, but don’t let it boil. This helps preserve the depth and richness of the cacao.

Then I add the cacao.

Two to three tablespoons of Planina cacao blend, rich and grounding. It melts into the warmth and already begins to smell like the day is opening up.

The blend already includes spices, so it’s designed to be enjoyed as it is, warm, aromatic, and grounding.

Since the blend is sugar-free, I usually add a little sweetness. A piece or two of date, or a spoon of raw organic honey is what I tend to reach for. It softens the bitterness and brings everything into balance.

Let your own taste guide you, some days you may want it sweeter, other days more earthy and pure.

I blend everything until it becomes smooth and slightly frothy.

I pour it into my favourite handmade cup and take a moment before drinking.

Pause. Breathe. Feel into my body.

Sometimes I set an intention for the day, or simply enjoy the quiet moment before moving on.

This is the heart of ceremonial cacao 🤎 not just the drink itself, but the way you meet it.
